CRC F-Won Formula 1 Race Car Kit

The new F-Won is a MetriCks-based Formula 1 car using all-metric hardware and CRC's Ultra-tune front end. The new car sets a new "metric" for performance, durability and affordability.

Our new car platform was a project that started back in 2022. Some of our goals for the new car are;

In the CRC tradition, keep the car affordable.

In the front, the F-Won features CRC's Ultra-tune suspension. Just change the lower C/C plate (caster/camber plate) and your caster and camber are perfectly set. A "4 -1" plate gives you 4 degrees caster and -1 camber. Switch to the 5 -.5 plate and you have 5 caster and negative .5 degrees of camber. Go smash a bunch of barriers, and your caster + camber settings are still the same. We have a plethora of different combinations available. And this is from Team CRC, so the price for optional C/C plates will be affordable. Throw your expensive setup gauge in the garbage, you wont need it.

With a simple and quick change of the C/C plate (caster/camber), you can set caster and camber with precision and ease. No setup station, no guessing, no fiddling. Perfect camber and caster is machined into the pieces.

CRC's F-won race car kit has 6 different front springs available for the car. Ranging from .4mm to .65mm, these springs made with precision from the best material available. The springs will mount over the CRC straight 5mm king pin and should fit other cars as well (A12 and Prodigy).

The Ultra-Tune front end uses the durable 1/8 x 5/16 wheel bearings. These bearings are much stronger than the 3/16 x 5/16 bearing found on many other cars. The new line of MetriCKs-based cars from CRC are the ONLY modern-day road race cars using the more durable 1/8 x 5/16 bearing, all others use the easily destroyed 3/16 x 5/16 bearing. 

The mid-mounted side-to-side roll springs separate the roll stiffness from the center/bump stiffness allowing more infinite adjustments. For those traditionalists that like the side springs in the rear, there is a provision to mount the side roll springs in back. The F-Won features an "easy to adjust" rear center spring for preload, setting battery height and bump stiffness. 

Super easy battery height and droop adjustment. From the top, with a simple hex head, the center preload is adjusted to alter the amount the car "sags in" when race ready. From the bottom of chassis, a simple twist of a wrench on the limit set screw adjusts the "extension" or down travel of the car. Super easy to see and adjust.

The F-Won accepts most any front wing that aligns with the original Tamiya F104 series. Different drivers like different styles and colors. We recommend the CRC 3124 wing, light, strong and affordable. 

Another goal is low center of gravity. Like all new CRC MetriCKs-based cars, tungsten weights fit below the battery, nearly level with the chassis bottom, not stacked on the chassis or needing an added  "weight plate" on the chassis. We put the ballast at the very lowest position possible. And with this car being so lightweight (needing lots of weight) and the ballast is so low, the center of gravity of this car is extremely low. Speaking of tungsten weight, CRC has it available and it is a common tungsten ballast available in many hobby stores, super affordable and easy to get. Keeping with the CRC tradition, high performance at a great price.

The inline rotational dual dampers are super easy to set, change and maintain. The damper rotors are driven by a captured ball socket system. This method has nearly ZERO free play. The "fork driven" systems used in other designs necessitate that a certain amount of free play or "backlash" must exist for smooth movement. With the small amount of total side-to-side suspension travel in a modern a pan car, if the system needs free play to move, 20 - 30% of the travel may fall into this "dead zone" where for a moment, the car has zero damping. The inline, ball-captured dampers are easy to maintain and keep consistent.

The car features super strong, precision machined motor plates with a very low center of gravity. Two locking hubs clamp onto a lightweight differential axle which makes is less costly to switch to a differential. Just add a diff hub and bearing to affordably switch to a differential, perfect for loose or lower grip tracks.

The rear wing mounts directly to the rear pod for added grip. We recommend the 1580 or the new 3125 rear wing.
